Made by Kentaro Murayama, a potter in Karatsu, Saga. He walks the mountains himself to collect the raw materials such as soil, iron and stone. The designs are simple and fit with modern food culture, allowing for long-lasting use. The Madara Karatsu bowls are made by elutriating white clay collected in the Kitahata area, and made with a glaze formulated based on burnt rice cake straw ash.

Since all processes are done by hand, there will be individual differences. There may be distortion, roughness on the surface, or uneven color. Each piece has a different texture. The photo is a sample, so the product you receive may have a slightly different texture. It fits perfectly in a rice bowl. This is a delicious dish that will have you eating lots of rice.

Kentaro Murayama
Born in Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture in 1978. After graduating from Arita Ceramics College in 2003 , he joined the Kawakami Kiyomi He studied under him and set up his own kiln in Karatsu City in 2008. He hikes the mountains, gathers raw materials, makes clay and glazes, and, based on the techniques used in the storefront of Kokaratsu, continues to research the clay and glazes to create a unique texture.
