Nakajima Mitsuyuki translation
about
This work is a photo book published as part of the " Sen " vol.2 Nepal event. Together with Mitsuyuki Nakajima, who participated in the project, we wandered around the capital city of Kathmandu and six surrounding locations, focusing on the "smells" that permeate Nepal.
Shop Managers' View
This book not only gives a glimpse into the vivid colors and daily life of Nepal, but also conveys the aroma of spices used in Nepali cuisine, the smell of incense wafting through the city, and the smell of sweat, animals, and dust. Please also take note of the carefully designed cover, which was made using a scan of Nepalese incense ashes.

Mitsuyuki Nakajima
Photographer. Born in Kyoto. Based in Kyoto, he focuses on extracting the inherent beauty of landscapes, lifestyles, temples, and craftsmen in Japan and abroad. Not only do he photograph works from museums and art galleries, treasures, architecture, and gardens of temples and shrines, which are national treasures and important cultural properties, but he also captures shrines and temples from a unique perspective that has never been seen before, creating a new trend in temple photography. He has also provided photographs for stamps in the "World Heritage Series" and "Kyoto Landscape Series" issued by Japan Post, and photographed the visual images of "Sankakuya," a group that creates Japanese-style buildings that are attracting attention from all over the world, and "LURRA°," an innovative restaurant in Kyoto, as well as magazines, books, advertisements, and other media. He is also active in many other areas, including presiding over the gallery and select shop "Community Store TO SEE," initiating the project "The Third Kyoto," and co-founding the publishing label "Sunaba" with book director Haba Masataka (BACH) and graphic designer Suzuki Takanao (Pictorial Book Design Laboratory).
"Sen"
"Sen" is a project with the theme of "travel". It is an attempt to interpret "travel" from a unique perspective and express it through design, books, photography, exhibitions, food, and more. For the second exhibition, we will develop a special exhibition from three different angles, starting with the "smells" that float around Nepal.
